What are your biggest online accessibility frustrations? | GAAD 2026

May 21 is Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), an annual event that draws attention to digital access and inclusive design. Digital accessibility is about making sure everyone can use websites, apps, and online tools and services.

GAAD started in 2012 and has since become a touchpoint for developers, designers, and technology companies to consider how well their products work for people with disabilities.

For people with hearing loss, digital accessibility gaps show up in specific ways that often go unnoticed by the people building the tools. GAAD is a good moment to name them.

What are the online accessibility barriers you run into most often? Some examples to get you started:

  • Apps where your phone's built-in accessibility features, like captions, don't work or don't work well
  • Podcasts that don’t include a transcript
  • Login or security steps that require a phone call, with no option to use text or email

Share your experiences in the comments. If you've encountered something not on the list, we want to hear that too.
