Fortell is a new hearing-aid startup featured in Wired for its use of advanced artificial intelligence to solve one of the hardest problems in hearing care, understanding speech in noisy environments. Fortell claims their device uses spatial AI and custom hardware to separate voices from background noise in real time, and early testers report being able to follow conversations in loud restaurants and crowded rooms where traditional premium hearing aids often fail.
The authors at Wired notes that Fortell has shown strong lab performance compared with leading hearing aids, though the company’s own data has not yet been widely peer-reviewed. Access to the device is very limited for now, with fittings available through only one clinic in Manhattan, and pricing that places it squarely in the luxury category. Fortell shows signs as a promising technological leap for individuals with hearing loss, while raising questions about accessibility, cost, and how broadly the innovation can scale.
