Cochlear announced that the Nucleus Nexa system became available on August 26, 2025. The system bundle includes the Nucleus Nexa implant, Kanso 3 Nexa and Nucleus 8 Nexa sound processors, and Connected Care tools such as SmartNav, Custom Sound Pro, and Remote Care. The company describes the Nexa system as a “smart” cochlear implant system with upgradeable implant firmware and internal memory that stores MAPs to simplify use of replacement processors.
The feature list highlights Dynamic Power Management with a new Power Compact battery and an RF link that sends data and power separately. Battery life claims are qualified, with “all day” defined as 16 hours and outcomes varying by user and use. They note that some remote features require clinician enablement and enrolled clinics, with Remote Check approved for all ages and Remote Assist for ages six and older.
