The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is accepting applications from scientists, patients, and other stakeholders to serve as Merit Reviewers for its research funding process.
Reviewers evaluate grant applications submitted in response to PCORI funding announcements. There are two reviewer tracks. The Patient and Stakeholder track is open to people with firsthand experience in health care, advocacy, policy, community organizing, or service on boards and committees. The Scientist track requires an advanced degree and a recent record of peer-reviewed publication or active research leadership.
For people with hearing loss or experience in hearing access and accessibility work, the Patient and Stakeholder track may be relevant. PCORI's review panels are designed to include patient and community perspectives alongside scientific expertise, and reviewer scores from all tracks are weighted equally.
Reviewers can expect to evaluate approximately four to six applications per review cycle and attend one or two days of in-person panel meetings. Compensation is $100 per application reviewed and $200 per day of in-person participation. Travel and lodging are coordinated by PCORI.
Applicants must reside in the United States, its territories, Canada, or Mexico.
