SCAN Health Plan and Costco have announced a Medicare Advantage partnership that includes a hearing aid benefit for eligible members. Announced October 1, the SCAN Costco Medicare Advantage (HMO) plan will begin coverage January 1, 2027, in 17 California counties and in Clark and Nye counties in Nevada. The companies describe it as Costco’s first Medicare Advantage plans.
The plan offers an annual allowance of up to $400 toward hearing aids. Combined with Costco’s existing hearing aid pricing, which starts around $1,600 per pair, reporting suggests this could lower eligible members’ out-of-pocket cost to roughly $1,200 per pair. The allowance is a benefit for eligible plan members only and is not a general discount for all Costco shoppers.
Original Medicare does not cover hearing aids, so hearing benefits for Medicare recipients come through Medicare Advantage plans, which vary widely. Anyone considering the plan would need to confirm eligibility, service area, and the specific terms of the hearing benefit. This describes a plan announcement; coverage does not begin until January 2027.
