RayNeo Releases Smart Glasses with Real-Time Captioning

RayNeo, a consumer augmented reality glasses maker, has released the RayNeo iO smart glasses. The glasses use a heads-up display to show real-time captions and translated text in the wearer's line of sight, without a screen visible to others. According to the company, the display streams text translation across 55 languages with roughly one-second latency, using a waveguide display the company describes as 97% transparent.

For hearing accessibility, the relevant design choice is that the glasses have no speakers. They pair a four-microphone array with a bone conduction sensor to capture speech and display it as text, which positions the product as a possible complement to hearing aids or cochlear implants rather than a replacement. The company reports battery life of up to about six hours of continuous translation. Captioning eyewear has drawn growing interest as a visual support for following conversations in noisy or group settings.

This is a company product announcement. Performance figures come from the manufacturer, and independent evaluations of caption accuracy in real-world conditions were not available at the time of release.
