In a Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) blog post, contributors from member companies describe several Bluetooth-related developments they expect to see gain traction in 2026. These include Bluetooth Channel Sounding, which the authors say could support more accurate distance measurement for applications like asset tracking and industrial safety, and Auracast broadcast audio, which they describe as a way for venues to transmit audio to many users at once, with potential implications for accessibility and shared public spaces.
The post also anticipates technical improvements such as higher data throughput, lower-latency human interface devices, and increased use of on-device artificial intelligence alongside Bluetooth connectivity. According to the authors, these changes could broaden how Bluetooth is used across consumer, enterprise, and industrial contexts, framing bluetooth technology as a platform that supports more responsive and context-aware systems rather than only short-range wireless connections.
