The World Health Organization is launching WHOears, a hearing screening application the organization describes as free, tone-based, and designed for use at the community and primary health care level. According to WHO, the app is intended to make basic hearing screening available in settings where access to audiological services is limited, and can be used by trained health care providers with low-cost equipment.
The launch webinar will include a live demonstration of the app, remarks from people who have used it in the field, and a discussion of how to integrate it into existing health programs. The session will be conducted in English with live closed captions. Researchers, audiologists, health care providers, program managers, and others working in ear and hearing care are welcome to attend.
