Nagish Rebrands to Rylo, Raises $85 Million to Expand AI Communication Tools for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Users

Nagish, an FCC-certified AI captioning platform founded in 2021, announced an $85 million funding round and a rebrand to Rylo. The company has now raised more than $100 million in total financing. The round included growth funding from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund and new investment led by Canaan, with participation from existing investors Vertex Ventures and Contour.

Rylo's platform provides real-time captioning and text-to-speech tools for phone calls and in-person conversations, offered at no cost to users through FCC certification. The company said it plans to expand into workplace accessibility tools, speaker identification, and sign language translation, building on its 2025 acquisition of Sign.mt, a real-time sign language translation company. According to the company, the platform currently supports 50 languages, though its service remains focused on the U.S. market.

This is a company funding and rebranding announcement. Specific new features described as upcoming had not shipped at the time of this report.
