The National Council on Aging (NCOA) reviewed more than 50 hearing aids to identify the best options for 2025, covering both over-the-counter and prescription devices. The review looked at sound quality, comfort, battery life, Bluetooth connectivity, trial periods, and customer support to help people make practical choices.
NCOA’s top overall pick is Jabra Enhance, highlighted for strong sound quality, Bluetooth streaming, a long trial period, and ongoing support. Other recommended options include Audien for affordability, Eargo for discreet design, Audicus for Bluetooth features, Elehear for tinnitus support, MDHearing as a budget option, Lexie for first-time users, and prescription models from Phonak, Starkey, and Signia. Most of the recommended devices are rechargeable and support Bluetooth. NCOA notes that working with a hearing professional can still be helpful before purchasing.
