Amplifon, the world's largest hearing aid retailer with more than 10,000 clinics globally, announced a definitive agreement to acquire GN Hearing, the hearing division of Danish conglomerate GN Store Nord, for approximately €2.3 billion. GN Hearing's brands include ReSound and Beltone. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory and antitrust approvals and the completion of GN Hearing's legal separation from GN Group.
Under the terms, GN Store Nord will receive approximately €1.69 billion in cash and 56 million Amplifon shares, making GN a roughly 16% shareholder in the combined company. The merger would create a vertically integrated audiology company combining GN's hearing aid manufacturing, R&D, and product development capabilities with Amplifon's retail and clinical network across more than 100 countries. Amplifon has projected €60–80 million in net EBITDA synergies by 2029, primarily from volume insourcing.
For retail consumers, the deal raises questions about what consolidation at this scale means for product variety, pricing, and access over time. ReSound and Beltone are among the more widely distributed hearing aid brands in the U.S. and internationally. Regulatory review is ongoing and the outcome of that review may affect whether and how the transaction proceeds.
