O2 Trials Network-Based Technology to Improve Call Clarity for Customers with Hearing Loss

UK mobile carrier O2 announced results from a proof-of-concept trial conducted with network software provider Mavenir, testing technology designed to improve phone call clarity for customers with hearing loss. Unlike device-based accessibility features or third-party apps, the adjustment happens within O2's network rather than on the user's phone or hearing device.

Participants completed a short automated hearing test to generate a personalized hearing profile, which was then used to adjust how call audio is delivered to that person's number in real time. Participants used their existing phones and numbers without any setup changes. O2 claims that nearly 90% of trial participants had improved call clarity, reduced listening effort, and a more natural calling experience.
