Event Information
The webinar “Auracast and Assistive Listening: The Journey So Far and What’s Ahead” will examine how emerging Bluetooth-based broadcast audio technology is affecting the future of assistive listening and accessibility. Hosted by the International Alliance for Hearing Accessibility (IAHA), the session brings together experts from technology, advocacy, and audiology to discuss where Auracast fits within the broader landscape of assistive listening systems. Speakers will question how this new standard compares with existing technologies such as hearing loops, radio frequency, and infrared systems, while addressing its current development stage, technical benefits, and long-term implications for accessibility in public spaces.
The event features perspectives from Andrew Thomas of IAHA, Sam Burkinshaw of Ampetronic and Listen Technologies, Alastair Moore of RNID, and audiologist Juliëtte Sterkens. Together, they will go over how Auracast could expand access to clearer sound in shared environments and what steps are needed for widespread adoption. Open to both professionals and the public.
