The Sydney Opera House became the first cultural venue in the world to permanently implement Auracast broadcast audio, a cutting-edge assistive listening technology powered by Bluetooth LE Audio. This innovation allows people with hearing loss to enjoy live performances with enhanced sound clarity directly through their hearing aids, earbuds, or compatible devices, removing traditional barriers such as seating limitations and distorted sound quality for music.
This initiative is part of a collaboration with GN, Hearing Australia, and the National Acoustic Laboratories, and is backed by major tech companies like Samsung and Google. Auracast is now fully available in the Drama Theatre, Playhouse, and Studio, setting a new global benchmark for accessibility in the performing arts.
